Doctor Lahm's Public Speaking Topics
Dr. Robert Lahm often addresses topics that are related to his ongoing research in his public speaking engagements. He is interested in hiring processes because they are a reflection of our culture at large, and they can provide a peek through the looking glass at organizational attitudes such as openness or resistance to change. But these processes are just a starting point for any of his presentations. His passion is in removing any barrier to creativity and innovation, and in so doing to unleash the potential in every one of his audience members to attain successes that they had never imagined were possible.
He has spent a lifetime doing his homeworkyou will be amused, and informed at the same time by a consummate "imagineer" who also has the core sensibilities one gains from providing years of service in customer and client-centered roles.
The leadership lessons embodied in his presentations are laced with humor, and based on “street wisdom” as well as a keen understanding of the sociological, technological, and structural impediments to productively managing change. His keynotes are geared to those who are in need of an uplifting message filled with upside-down, inside-out, backwards, forwards, and all around-insights from the mind of a visual artist-turned visioning process leader.
A particularly popular presentation, "Interpersonal 'Chemistry' in Hiring: Mastering The Turn-ons and Turn-offs That Control Your Future," is also the subject matter of an upcoming book, GUTInstinct. Dr. Lahm can easily address a variety of topics such as organizational change, jump-starting imagination and creativity for innovation, leadership, and fostering customer service excellence.
He is working on a variety of additional book projects, such as:
The Genius of Ignorance. Sometimes "knowing all the rules" can prevent the very experimentation and questioning processes that lead to innovation.

RUDE Company. Lessons in outrageous acts of customer disservice, poor manners, insensitivity and apathy from some of the worst of us, as they do their level best to demonstrate how NOT to treat other people.

PLEASANT Company. Lessons in caring from organizations and the people within them who are focused on creating quality products and services. There are the people among us who are ready, willing, and able to go out of their way to simply be nice, and ensure that decency, honesty, fairness, and customer satisfaction prevail in their personal and organizational practices.

Speaker's Fees
Speaker's fees are dependent on a variety of factors such as audience size and composition, total elapsed time involved in servicing an event, the potential for ancillary sales of DoctorLahm.com products and/or services, and the level of support extended by the sponsoring organization (e.g., in assisting with travel, A/V equipment usage, and similar arrangements). Engagements meant to "rally the troops" and provide motivation for otherwise well-paid professional staff on behalf of commercial entities will require higher fees than those geared to public service oriented organizations (e.g., not-for-profit audiences such as public universities). While Dr. Lahm will attempt to work within the budget of any organization, the schedule below should serve as a guide. Travel and expense policies apply to all speaking and consulting engagements. In instances where presentations are associated with book signings or other compensating factors, fees for services may be substantially reduced.
Not-for-Profit, Academic, and Public Service Oriented Events
Conferences or events associated with not-for-profit, educational institutions, and other public service oriented organizations and events:
An honorarium ranging from $750 to $1,500 will apply.
Keynote Speeches
Assuming commercially motivated venues and audiences, especially if those participants have paid a fee (e.g., an event fee, or membership fee) to a sponsoring organization attend:
$2500-$3000
Half-day Workshops
$3500
Full Day Workshops
$4000
Travel and Expense Policies
Business class airfare, ground transportation, meals, accommodations, necessary telephone and Internet usage, copies, and other expenses associated with a given engagement apply at rates to be quoted at the time of booking (and are in addition to speaking, consulting, and other fees for services rendered). Lower than normal state-rate policies or other issues are not insurmountable, but please do expect higher speaker's fees if it becomes necessary to negotiate expense allowances that are less than the going rate for corporate travelers. Any of the above expenses (as per estimate provided) are payable in advance. Nevertheless, all travel and associated expenses such as those outlined above will be billed at actual cost and accounted for at the end of any engagement, and any differences will also be due or refunded back to the sponsoring organization, as applicable, at that time.
Media Consultations
Ordinary briefings and scheduled radio appearances with media organizations are complimentary by telephone, assuming that the source is acknowledged. Please contact Dr. Lahm for an appointment. Last minute availability is offered whenever possible. Requests for extensive consultations or specific new primary or secondary research studies are negotiable by separate arrangement.
